Every year since 1994, the Mid Eastern Dance Exchange, with support from Miami Dade County
Cultural Affairs Council and the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, has produced the free
Orientalia Festival on Lincoln Road. This festival showcases local Middle Eastern dancers as
well as renown guest artists flown in from around the world.

This year, guest artists will include MEN.
Ahmet Luleci from Turkey will perform incredibly strong and masculine folk dances. Mohammed
Shahin of Egypt will do a Dervish spinning performance, as well as a Nubian dance and "Asaya",
a martial arts dance with two sticks from southern Egypt.

There will be an equal amount of women, namely, Sevdije, of Albanian Turkish heritage and
Oriental dancer Najmah with Flamenco guitarist Goliath of Gainesville.

Shahar, a former dancer of the Mid Eastern Dance Exchange who now lives in Virginia will fly in
to perform.

Tamalyn Dallal, the founder of Mid Eastern Dance Exchange, who now lives in Seattle, will be
the mistress of ceremonies.

Alessandra, the pioneer of bellydance in Costa Rica will fly in to perform in Orientalia as well as
Asianne of Michigan, who will do an Asian Fusion bellydance piece.

There will also be some of the top belly dancers in Miami, both men and women.

Workshops and Master Classes by the guest artists will be held at Bozenka's Bellydance
Academy from May 17 through May 20. For information, log onto:

This is the last in a long tradition of festivals, so we hope the public will show their support. The
Mid Eastern Dance Exchange as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Arts Organization is in the process of
relocating to Seattle, Washington, where Tamalyn Dallal now lives, and the studio on Lincoln
Road where it was located since 1990 is now a privately owned dance school, Bozenka's
Bellydance Academy.

We invite everyone to come and see how global and varied Middle Eastern dance can be. See
the progression from the Middle Eastern roots to modern fusion as it now embraces many
continents. Experience this dance as a universal dance form performed by men and women of
all nationalities.
