"As a student of dance since I was a child, I have always yearned for a little girl who loves to dance as much as I do. She is my enormous blessing draped in silk veils, glitter and beads! I dedicate this website and all I do to my sweet face, Kayla. She has been moving to Middle Eastern music since she learned to walk. I always say that her first steps were little shimmies."

Belly Dancing during Intermission at Little Egypt's Friday
show in Miami....fearless! May 2006
Belly dancing with Kayla is such a joy for me. She just watches so intently and will practice on her own accord. She will come to me and say in her little voice, “Turn music on Mommy, I wanna belly dance...” - Soraya, Kayla's Mom

Dancing at Bellymotions Grand Opening!
Opening night of Bozenka's Bellydance Academy
Sep 6, 2008
Dress by Lili Designs
See her performance video from
this event below!
After her performance in the video below, I received several e-mails from
admirers asking me where Kayla learned to do the things she does when
she dances....the truth is, she learned it from all of us in the dance
community. She started mimicking bellydance movements when she was
just 9 mos. old. That was about the time I started learning more about
Egyptian dancers. I would watch old VHS tapes of dancers in Egypt like Fifi
Abdo and Suhair Zaki along with many famous South Florida dancers from
the 70's and 80's, she would sit there on the floor and move her arms like
the dancers. As the months went on, she found my veils, then started to
spin...and spin....all the time. Then as she got to be about 2 1/2 yrs old
she started dancing in public (but only when the mood struck, mind you).
She would ask me when the shows were and she would put on her
"costume" and get ready to bellydance!
This year, she appeared in the opening act for a bellydance theater
production and then was invited to perform a solo for Bozenka's Grand
Opening. She has only just begun to show us who she is. Her Father and
I are often overwhelmed at what she does when she dances. She
watches dancers like she is studying them. We like to watch international
ballets (on tv), she loves her performance DVD's of famous bellydancers
like Bozenka and of course there is our collection of local performances
that we have watched together time and time again at home. Being that
she is only 5 years old, she doesn't take classes from anyone but she
looks forward to starting classes with a new teacher soon. Besides
bellydance, Kayla is also very much interested in her swimming lessons
and learning in school. She recently started kindergarten and that is our
primary focus. Thank you to everyone for supporting "Kayla Style"
Bellydance! I think we are all about to see a great evolution of a dancer.....
Sincerely,
Kelly Mason aka Kayla's Mom (as her friends call me)
