currently looking for talented, energetic & reliable professional female dancers to
join her beautiful troupe, The Sahlala Dancers, for ongoing performances in the Los
Angeles, California area. They have 6-10 regular shows every weekend and need
more dancers !
Requirements:
Must live in LA.
Strong dance background in Jazz, Latin, Ballet, Hip Hop, Belly dance & Folklore. Must
be able to learn and perform choreography quickly.
Be between 5’3 – 5’7 in height and dress sizes 3 – 8. All costumes are provided and
there is good pay. $$$$ Must be 18 and over and have reliable transportation.

| BellyCraft Audition Details - Date, Time & Specifics Saturday, January 10, 2009 @ 2pm Lotus Dance Studio 9117 Taft Street Pembroke Pines, FL 33024 Audition Specifics: The audition is open to versatile, strong, professional, advanced and intermediate level belly dancers who are ready to commit them selves to steadfast hard work. Active belly dancers who are open and ready to push themselves technically and artistically into new directions are encouraged to audition for our dance company. Arrive up to 20 minutes early, in full stage costume, hair and make-up. A short (3-4 minutes) solo will be required for finalists. Special skills a plus. A resume, head shot and body shot are recommended but not required. Video clip on a CD or YouTube address are pluses as well. Phase 1: Registration & Pictures Fill out a sheet with your name, address & contact information (attach resume & photos). Photos are taken of each audition participant. Phase 2: Preliminaries A short, group choreography will be taught by Alicia. Be ready to belly dance solo, improv, partnering, floor work, veil & finger cymbals. Phase 3: Finals A member of the adjudication panel will call back individual dancers from the preliminaries that they liked. Each finalist must then present a prepared solo performance (3-4 minutes). Phase 4: Thank you. Finalists will be contacted within 7 days of the audition. Requisites to audition are: Must be at least 16 years of age Must have at least TWO years of consistent formal training in any style of BELLYDANCE - experience in tribal fusion, ATS, ITS & other dance styles & performance art are pluses Must be talented Must be comfortable with performing in front of small & large audiences Must be physically fit Must be a resident of South Florida, where the company is located Must be willing and able to attend the minimum required classes with Alicia Must be proficient in playing finger cymbals while dancing Must be willing and able to attend all scheduled rehearsals Must be willing and able to purchase required costuming Must be willing & able to supply their own shoes/footwear, makeup, hair accessories & jewelry Must be willing and able to hand sew personal costuming (machine sewing skills a plus) Must be consistently punctual Must have great communication with the director Must be open to direction and constructive criticism The above requisites are not fixed but variable dependant on overall performance. Company members must be available to commit to performing throughout south Florida on the weekends and attend weekly rehearsals in Pembroke Pines at Lotus Dance Studio. Please note that additional personal practice, classes and workshops may be required. Technique is learned and drilled in classes, not at rehearsals. Company members must maintain an updated Google Calendar shared with the director. Weekly Rehearsal Schedule: Fridays 6:30pm-8:30pm &/OR Saturdays 5:00pm-7:00pm at Lotus Dance Studio in Pembroke Pines. NOTE: Rehearsals may (and will, as needed) go OVER in time - company members are expected to stay as late as needed. Additional rehearsals are added (as needed) on Thursdays 9:30pm-11pm and /or Sundays 1pm-3pm. Monthly Rehearsal Cost: (to cover studio rental costs) is a minimum of $30 /maximum of $60 per month, per member. The exact cost depends on the amount of rehearsal hours that are scheduled for that month. I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by so much talent here in South Florida. We are truly a diverse and unique bellydance community that remains genuinely passionate about our artform and as dedicated to its myriad of current expressions as we are to their evolution and integration. | A Message from Alicia of BellyCraft (11/13/08): BellyCraft is back from performing in New York City, is highly inspired, and is seeking to expand its belly dance company. This is a unique opportunity to become a member of BellyCraft and/or our sister troupe Coven! BellyCraft and its Coven are a Gothic Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Company based in South East Florida and directed by Alicia. We are dedicated to working and playing hard, pushing boundaries, creating and promoting the evolution of Gothic Tribal Fusion Bellydance. We have lots planned for 2009 and this is your chance to be a part of it! |
